Garin Pirnia was raised on a healthy diet of MTV and Top 40 radio in the suburbs of Dayton, OH. One day she realized she wanted to make movies, so she moved to Hollywood. After realizing they just didn’t give out three picture deals on Sunset Blvd., she decided to move back to the Midwest. Now based in Chicago, she’s written for various local and national publications including The Wall Street Journal, Time Out Chicago, The Onion, NewCity Chicago, AOL Spinner.com, LimeWire, Chicago Innerview, Urban Daddy, WonkaVision, Myopenbar.com, and Punk Planet. She’s covered Chicago’s art, music, food and nightlife scenes with an emphasis on music. She’s interviewed a plethora of bands and can be spotted at a show at least once a week. She’s also the editor-in-chief of the snarky drinking website Myopenbar where she manages a staff of six attractive and hilarious writers.
